Take A Chance (Detail)
2012
‘Take A Chance’ is a book and wall installation in which I examine the idea of risk and chance. Using ambiguous phrases, the meaning of each phrase changes depending on its context. Printed by letterpress directly from the dice themselves, the book is a record of the random way the dice fall. Twelve phrases correspond to each of the six faceson the two dice. Each phrase is assigned according to the roll of the dice, creating a poem that occurs entirely by chance. Just as much of life is determined by chance, this narrative is also determined by chance, and we strive to make meaning and sense out of the randomness.
